Hi, I’m Mauro Bordignon.
I was born in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, and graduated in English and American Literature from Ca’ Foscari University in Venice. My diving journey began in 1997, and by 1998, I had immersed myself in cave diving. I became a diving professional in 2002, and since then, I’ve dedicated my career to exploring and teaching the depths of cave diving.
Currently, I teach Full Cave, Side Mount Cave, Stage and DPV for TDI, Full Cave and CCR Cave, and CCR Normoxic Trimix for IANTD, along with Diving Fundamentals for GUE. I am also a Brand Ambassador for K01 Diving, Santi Diving, and Nautec Valves, as well as a Fathom CCR Instructor and Fathom Explorer.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of exploring some of the world’s most awe-inspiring caves, including locations in Mexico, France, Italy, Bosnia, Croatia, and Madagascar. After many years of exploration in the Yucatán Peninsula, I now focus on deep cave exploration in Northern Mexico, particularly in Oaxaca and Tamaulipas. Some of my past exploration projects include Xunaan Ha, Doggy, Ek Beh, Caterpillar, Galaxians, Sandcrack, and Nohoch Pek in Quintana Roo, and Cala Luna in Sardinia. My current projects include Acqua Nera (Northern Italy), Santa Clara, El Carrizo, and San Rafael (Tamaulipas) and Rio Uluapan (Oaxaca).
I spend most of my year in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico, conveniently located between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. This area is a prime spot for some of the best cave diving in the world, and it’s where I teach the majority of my courses. However, I also frequently travel to Florida and Europe’s top cave destinations for both teaching and exploration.
Whether you’re a recreational diver just beginning your technical diving journey or an experienced diver with thousands of dives, I offer courses and excursions customized to your goals, experience level, and available time—always prioritizing quality training and customer satisfaction.
Fluent in Italian, English, and Spanish, I’m committed to providing the most comprehensive overhead diving training and ensuring that every diver I work with has an exceptional and rewarding experience.
